Eating in Athens

Eating in foreign countries is all about absorbing the culture and lifestyle of that country. Athens is strong in this area and a new wave of chefs and style has flowed through the cuisine of Athens and Greece. One of the best areas to get a feel for the local culture is the taverna. Tavernas are inexpensive and they give you the opportunity to experience Athens for what the city really is.
Armatolon and Klefton ofer a declicios version of the spanakopita (spinach cheese pie). This delicious staple consists of phyllo cone of spinach with chard and boule of feta ice cream. Another delicious dish is stuffed tomatoes.
These are filled with rice and pine nuts and resemble sushi. Horiatiki is an interesting Greek salad that includes a tomato sorbet, frizzle-fried onions and feta cream.
